Human Trafficking
This world has slowly been engulfed by the lure of money, profits and power. And what better way to prove it with the existing and flourishing global human sex trade. AFter the illegal sales of drugs and weapons, human trafficking is the third most profitable form of trade. Through movies such as "Human Trafficking", people have been made aware of the existance of slave trade, even in modern day. IT is astonishing that slave trade, which has been abolished 200 years ago, has found its way back. ANd people have rediscovered the massive profitability of such trade again.
Especially in Eastern Europe,the breakdown of Soviet Union has brought poverty to these countries. And women are hit the hardest. Around 90% of these women are left without jobs and economic hopelessness. Predators such as powerful criminal gangs take advantage of such a situation.
THe women and girls being trafficked are "recruited" by different ways. Some are sold by their brothers,even husbands just for the sake of money. It is extremely sad that for the sake of money, people can actually go to such extent. Other methods are kidnapping, tricking the girls through a complex series of process such as modelling interviews. They put on a fake front that the women would find better lives abroad put upon reaching their destinations, these women find their passports burnt or confiscated. THey are then being sexually exploited and made to serve clients to repay their debts consisting of air tickets.
THeir living conditions are appalling and no medical care is given to them. Risk of infections and STDs are high. THese women are afraid to approach authorities as they fear deportation. Because they will return to the same old situation after they return to their home country. MOrever, these women would be too shameful to meet their families if they find out what happened to them. If they tried to escape, their perpertuators will threaten to harm their families.
THis is a horrible sin. No one should have control over another human being. Everyone has his/her own freedom and rights. THis self-empowerment over another is disgusting and sick in its own.
Governments are doing their best to help curb this problem but to little avail. Human or simply sex trafficking is too difficult to detect and these criminal gangs are too powerful. Morever, with the impoverishment of these former SOviet Unions, there is an explosion of millions of women. THerefore, even if the police do rescue some of the women and girls, the criminal gangs can easily replace them.
Whatever the method of recruiting these innocent women is, such a practise of human trafficking should be made aware to the public. MAke it known to the world that slavery still exists in this world presently. WE should educate the world that human trafficking exists and must be stopped. THe reason why the human trafficking trade is on the rise is because people choose to ignore it. If we can realise that such trade is happening now, the demand will hopefully decrease and the sex slavery will slowly dissolve and end this nightmare.
No woman in this world should be made to suffer like this.
