Learn to cherish, respect n appreciate....

It's been a long time since i wrote a blog. Maybe because I do not feel the need to write...or i am just too lazy.. This can also be applied to real life. Many of us learn how cherish only after the thing is taken away. We do not know how to appreciate the positive aspects and gifts we have in life. Maybe it is because we take things for granted. Families and friendships, we just take it as though it should always be there. However, good things do not last. Nothing does.

It is as though it is human nature that we have to lose something before we learn to cherish them. We should all learn to respect and appreciate everything in life, regardless of living things or not. When we open our eyes, we should appreciate what the sun has brought us. It has brought us life, energy and allow us to see things. We should appreciate when the winds blow into our face, cooling us down. Even plants we have to respect them as they bring us oxygen every second of our lives. In other words, respect and appreciate the nature. How many of us have actually stopped in our hypocrtical lives, and think of all these. Clearly, we humans have taken too many things for granted.

Positive interaction among humans is important. Respect for one another can promote peace and harmony. Showing acts of appreciatons can improve one's interpersonal skills. Many a times, we do not know how show respect. I feel that we are too superficial. WE tend to perceive a person purely based on the first impression, without knowing that perception changes over time. Through time, we get to understand another person deeper and better. It is just that too few of us realized that. I read a book that concluded that 5 seconds upon seeing a person for the first time, impressions of the person's characteristics is being formed in the brain. This often means just introducing ourselves to the person. This shows that humans are superficial creatures. Just take a look at the fashion and modelling industry. All the models are tall slim and attractive-positive physical traits. ANd because they are the ones who get to wear the newly-designed clothes, they will leave an impression that the clothes look good on the consumer as well. It is kinda sad that humans tend to treat more attractive people better. The face is only skin deep, cos what's most important is what lies beneath. LEarn to cherish and respect everyone, regardless of their physical characteristics. There is so much more than just a pretty face.

Even though we all say that family is the most important thing in life, we are often guilty of taking them for granted. We assume that friends come and go, but family ties are always there. It is often only when we lose our loved ones that we begin to truly understand the meaning of learning to cherish every single moment spent with them. Family is the only people on Earth who will stand by your side and support you right till the end. NO other comes close to that.

Friends are divided into a few catergories. There are those who stick with you even when you are down and out, and make efforts to meet up to catch up with one another. This type of friendship normally lasts for more than 10 years. There is another group who come and go. They only stay in contact during a certain time, e.g. schooling, working, NS,...etc... THey say such friendships are forged.
THen there is another type of friendship. These are the type of friends who bring you down and take you for granted. They just want to take and refuse to reciprocate your efforts to help them. They are unappreciative even though they say courteous words like thank you. They just do not seem to get it, appreciating someone is far more than just using words. Some within this category even do not show appreciation at all for all the help given. They simply brush you aside after all you hav done. Unfortunately, they exist.
